Abstract

Here are reported a high-speed printer using shaped character electrodes and a flat-bed facsimile receiver which were developed by the Electrical Communication Laboratory of the Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Public Corporation in Japan.
The experimental equipment of high-speed printer is capable of printing at a rate of 20,000 characters per second. The electrostastic character images are formed on the moving electrostatic recording paper by applying high voltage pulses to a stationary shaped character electrodes.
The facsimile equipment described here is posible to record the good quality picture in the range of 30%∼90% relative humidity. High voltage picture signals are applied to a recording stylus which is mounted on a rotating timing belt. The electrostatic charge patterns are made on the electrostatic recording paper that is contacted with the recording stylus. A developer and a fuser are constructed in the facsimile equipment.
