Description

Regarding image quality improvement of xerographic prints, it is important to obtain high-definition latent images. When a laser scanner is used to form latent images on a photoreceptor, an optical design to obtain a small beam is required. In order to make the beam finer, it is necessary to reduce the effect of diffraction, which is realized by increasing the convergent angle to the photoreceptor. A larger angle makes the depth of focus shallower. Hence, it is more difficult to focus the beam on the entire photoreceptor surface, and optical components must be assembled precisely. In this research, we carried out a beam profiles simulation considering both diffraction and aberration in a laser scanner optics. The effect of aperture shapes on beam profile is discussed applying the simulation.
