Abstract

Liquid Development PPC System belongs to one of four fundamental groups of electrophotographic copiers classified by the method of development (liquid or powder) and used papers (plain or coated). Although it was forcasted that it would have a high image quality and an excellent cost performance, many technical problems obstructed its commercialization till October 1972.<br/>In this paper, practical image evaluation is given for the first embodiment of Liquid Development PPC, NP-L7.<br/>Sensitometry curve shows a good tonal reproduction. By the function of development electrodes, line images are reproduced with a high contrast, solid and half tone images with a moderate tone. Strictly speaking, it does not really have the high fidelity but makes images psychologically easy-to-see.<br/>Investigation of M. T. F. proves though there exists a critical path in the formation of latent image, developer and developing method compensate the contrast diminution. Whole M. T. F. gives a sufficient value within the practical domain of spatial frequencies. It verifies the sharpness of image.
