<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title> <jats:p>The catalytic effect of bases on the O→N migration of the s-triazinyl group in O-(s-triazinyl)-2-aminophenols has been studied kinetically. In the rearrangement of N-(acyl)-O-(s-triazinyl)-2-aminophenols (II) in alkaline aqueous methanol, the reactive species was found to be an ion formed by the ionization of the acylamino group. In the case of O-(s-triazinyl)-2-aminophenols (I), the rearrangement was subjected to a general base catalysis, although the extent was small.</jats:p>
