We are increasingly seeing intellectual property rights lawsuits involving smartphone intellectual property, the design of scales, and trademarks surrounding wristwatches. Further, with the start of Patent Opposition System in 2015, the trial process is undergoing new changes.However, data pertaining to trial review and raising a suit, in Japan included, is split into numerous documents (trial decision communiques, bulletins and records on the review process, judgment papers, etc.) presided over by different bodies (Patent Review Board, Intellectual Property High Court, Supreme Court), making it difficult for ordinary users of patent information to grasp at a glance how to obtain said information, not to mention actually making use of it.In this report, we focus on Japan and the United States and summarize the types of information surrounding intellectual property trials and lawsuits and the means of obtaining the same.
