Description

We discuss the condition for the curvature instability in d-dimensional surface. We give necessary and sufficient conditions for the instability in the cases where the order parameters on the membrane are described by the φ4-theory and the spherical model. In the spherical model case, applying Large D expansion (where D is the dimension of the bulk space in which the membrane is embedded), we obtain the phase diagram of this system.
