Abstract

The spatial distribution of single substitutional nitrogen and nickel in a synthetic diamond crystal has been imaged with a microwave scanning ESR imaging method. The growth sectorial dependence of the concentration and the linewidth of nitrogen and nickel centers was observed with the resolution of 0.5 mm. The Ni-rich region was seen only at some parts of the (111) sectors while nitrogen was rich in the entire (111) sectors. The linewidth of the nitrogen signal qualitatively correlates with the concentration of nickel.
