抄録

The stability of the high frequency mode wave propagating in a two-mode nonlinear transmission line is analysed, and the condition is found under which it decays into a pair of low frequency and high frequency waves through parametric interaction. Two limiting cases (resonant decay instability and modified decay instability) are considered, and for each case the wave number region and the maximum growth rate of the unstable modes are determined.
