説明

A high density and high pressure plasma was produced behind a reflected shock wave. Test gases are argon, krypton, and xenon. The temperature and the pressure were experimentally determined. The electron density was calculated from the measured temperature and pressure and it ranges from 1018/cc to 1019/cc. The xenon and the krypton plasmas were black body radiators in the visible region. The temperature is close to the Rankine-Hugoniot value for argon plasma but it is below the R-H value for krypton and xenon. The temperature is relatively low (10000 K–16000 K) so that the “plasma parameter” is larger than 1. The maximum value of it is 7.
