Description

The rotational transitions 93,6–93,7 and 144,10–144,11 in the v1=1 state of HDCO have been observed by infrared-radiofrequency double resonance by using a Zeeman-tuned 3.5 μm He–Xe laser. The observed transition frequencies are 1956.00±0.05 MHz and 1045.85±0.05 MHz, respectively. The analysis of these frequencies and that of the 31,2–31,3 line observed by Takami and Shimoda shows that the rotational levels in the v1=1 state cannot be fitted to the usual asymmetric rotor pattern. The double resonance effect has also been observed by saturating the rotational transitions in the ground vibrational state. The assignments of the three vibration-rotation lines of HDCO given by Sakurai et al. have been confirmed.
