Description

The acaricidal efficacy of fenthion, fenitrothion and permethrin was evaluated against the house dust mite, Dermatophagoides farinae, under laboratory conditions. In a test by a residue contact method, the mites were reared on filter paper treated with various concentration of each of three chemicals for 24 hours, and the relationship between concentration of the chemical and mortality of the mites was examined. The result thus obtained showed that fenthion was most effective, followed by fenitrothion. In another test by a medium treatment method, the mites were reared in culture media treated with each chemical, and the reproductive inhibition rate was examined. The result showed that permethrin was most effective, followed by fenitrothion.
