Description

Through two major transformations in the past, 1972 and 1993, the American Center Reference Service has been reborn as a reference information center with specialized materials in various forms. For the rapidly increasing"remoto users, "the ACRS now provides three of service:an Electronic mail outreach service, Pre-packaged sites on specific subjects, and a Fax-On-Demand service, Moreover, with its consolidation into the Separtment of State in 1999, the ACRS now faces a further challenges to pursus its"public diplomacy"mission even more effciently and effectively. A digitized library with accurately filtered and more value-added information would be a solution for the ACRS in the fast-approaching Internet age, emphasizes the author.
