Description

A blog is a type of easy to manage website that is rapidly gaining users in Japan. However, thus far very few Japanese university libraries have their own blog. This article introduces a blog called the Todai Pharmaceutical Library Diary. The period covered is from September 2005 to June 2006. We discuss why a staff member launched a blog at the Pharmaceutical Library of the University of Tokyo and how it became part of school operations. There are also discussions on the selection of blogging tools, content and the coverage of internal library and external events, access to content by categories such as month and subject area, and the use of blog functions such as linking and trackback. Finally, we provide some thoughts on the significance of a university library blog.
