Abstract

Health Sciences University of Hokkaido Library has planned "Pharmacist and Nurse Education Program for medical information offer without regional differential" as one of community cooperation projects with the faculty of pharmaceutical sciences and the school of nursing and social services. This program was selected as one of the program of learning for adults by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan in 2008 and was started in June, 2009. This is a postgraduate education program and the core concept is activation of regional medicine. One of the objective is to improve pharmacist's and nurse's information literacy, and teach the knowledge and skill to get medical information, appraise it, and use it to patient education effectively. Another objective is to solve the problem of information disparity in Hokkaido. This program is on the basis of the result of the information needs investigation of the community medical workers. In this paper, the present condition of this program is described with the background of planning.
