The relationship between clothing behavior and time orientation was examined for 131 male and female college students. Regarding clothing behavior, four behavioral dimensions, “fashion intention”, “functionality intention”, “quality intention” and “common sense intention” were extracted via factor analysis. For time orientation, two intentional dimensions, “present orientation”, and “pleasures of the moment principle” were extracted. The relation-ship between clothing behavior and time orientation was analyzed via analysis of variance (ANOVA) . Results indicated that females exhibiting the pleasures of the time orientation were likely to follow fashion more strongly than males. Results also indicated that females assigned a higher priority of quality to price, compared to males, and that students exhibiting a stronger present orientation principles were likely to place a higher priority of quality and common sense. In addition, the clothing behavior that governed clothing and companionship expenses was also discussed via multiple linear regression analysis. Results indicated that students who followed fashion more ardently and placed a higher priority of quality were likely to spend more money on fashion, in life. Additionally, students who exhibited a higher fashion intention in clothing behavior were likely to spend more money on companionship with friends.
