Description
The purpose of this study is to clarify the relation between two characteristics of street patterns, topological and geometrical, and to show the method to analyze properties of districts. We calculate topological characteristics of street network by Space Syntax Theory analysis and geometrical characteristics of blocks by GIS data, and aggregate these characteristics by unit of districts. The relations between two characteristics are shown by correlation analysis. As a result, it's revealed that some geometrical characteristics; concretely complexity of block figure, have strong correlation with topological characteristics, and other characteristics have poor correlation. Finally on case study, we show the method to analyze districts properties by combination of these characteristics.
