Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to acquire a basic knowledge of improving the rainfall recharge function in green space in the city by quantitative evaluation of relationship between quality of green space and rainfall interception, soil infiltration. Quality of green space means Species composition. Study site is the Otomeyama Park in Shinjuku ward , Tokyo. This area is subject to inundation inside a levee because there is a junction of two rivers; Kanda river and Myoshoji river. The following 2 points were clarified. 1) Quality of green spaces is that the ratio of evergreen species are high and vegetation succession is now, proceeded. 2) Both of rainfall interception and soil infiltration show a significant difference depend on vegetation structure. And Secondary forest has high function of rainfall recharge. Therefore it is necessary to consider whether going to aim kind of green space because vegetation management effects rainfall recharge function.
