Description
Statistical distribution of road width is derived theoretically by arranging road segments composing road networks in ascending order of road width on one-dimensional space. It is found that average, maximum, minimum road width and the coefficient reflecting the composition ration of road width are the parameters which determine the distribution. By applying this statistical distribution model to actual road width distribution, it is found that, while, as a result of chi-square test, the actual statistical distribution of road width follows the theoretical distribution mentioned above statistically, their discrepancy are larger in the areas where road networks have been constructed based on urban planning than in the areas where they have not.
