Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to grasp the characteristics of the boundary space between private-public in the living space through residents' consciousness analysis and examine the boundary space design with residents' consciousness. We did the survey on Seijo district, Setagaya word with questionnaire asking their boundary space design and expected functions of their garden, boundary space and districts. Below are the results. 1. Residents have a private-oriented consciousness to their gardens but their consciousness to their district is observed as mingled private and public-oriented. 2. The consciousness to boundary space has effects on above phenomena in several patterns. 3. Specific boundary space design could relate to their owner's consciousness.
