抄録

Street Layout affects community development in the detached houses area that is developed with planning. 1. The street layout affects neighbors' relationship, in particular the street layout designed to facilitate face-to-face communications can promote community development. 2. By promoting a non-grid pattern of street alignment, varying pavement style, introducing flowers, trees, and small plazas, the street can be more utilized in the detached houses area with reduced number of through-traffic. 3. Joint ownership creates a stronger sense of own territory on the street by residents. However, it sometimes fails to cause problems such as in crease of on-street parking and higher maintenance and management cost of the street.
