The aim of this research is to observe the present situation and the theme of present narrow street arrangement measures by utilizing the result of questionairs to officers who undertake narrow street arrangement in Tokyo 23-ku. The conclusion is as follows. First, understanding of residents is necessary to proceed the improvement project for narrow road effectively. Second, the central object of municipal urban planning is the line of life road. Third, narrow street arrangements has advanced in the area which has utilized district planning and stratified subsidy system.
