Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to clarify how spatial structure of the city with a district heating and cooling system (DHC) using combined heat and power generation affects energy conservation and the cost of the system. First, on the assumption that the area contains offices, residences and stores, the land use pattern maximizing energy conservation is calculated according to density. Second, the author shows the density at which energy supply by DHC is smaller than that by a usual energy system. Third, the author clarifies the land use pattern for which energy conservation per cost is maximized according to density.
