Abstract

This research aims to extract the sample sounds in Kyoto by questionnaires, and to analyse physical characteristics of the sounds and find out the realities of sound sceans in the urban area. The findings of survey and research are as follows: As the result of the sound contour analyse in the downtown area in Kyoto, the phenomena as "sound hole" and the effect of shutting out noises by the buildings was proved. According to the analyse of a frequency, a chord, a sound pressure on the 10 samples, the three types of character was classified. By the SE method and the factor analyse, 7types of sounds was described.
