Description
It is very important for surgical treatment of gastric cancer to accurately identify the area infiltrated by cancer cells preoperatively. In these two years we have practised the endoscopic intrabulbar retroflexion method to diagnose the infiltration of gastric cancer to the duodenum through the pyloric ring. In Z cases of polypoid early gastric carcinoma prolapsed into the duodenal bulb, we examined endoscopically by the intrabulbar retroflexion method. The whole aspect of the prolapsed gastric carcinoma into the duodenal bulb could be easily observed and diagnosed accurately. The endoscopic intrabulbar retroflexion method must be useful not only for diagnosis of duodenal infiltration of gastric cancer, but also for observation of the prolapsed polypoid gastric cancer into the duodenal bulb.
