Abstract

The Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute (JAERI) Library has provided 300 electronic journals for scientists and engineers by library homepage for three years. In the period, the number of lending and photocopy in printed form has decreased, and the accesses to electronic journals have increased heavily. We report the cause of the change of usage from printed journals to electronic journals based on the statistical data of lending, photocopy, download, access etc. Also, importance of usage data provided by the publishers, prevention of illegal access, effects of electronic journals to library resource management are reported.
