Abstract
The goal of research on Speech-to-Speech Translation is to create a system that translates spoken utterances in a source language to those in a different target language. To achieve this goal, it is essential to build robust and accurate speech recognition, machine translation, and speech synthesis engines for the spoken language, and integrate the engines effectively. This paper introduces recent trends of this technology on the basis of ATR's Speech-to-Speech Translation System which is designed for a travel conversation domain.
