Abstract

The source of pyroclastic material in Holocene coastal deposits in Primorye is the eruption products of the Baegdusan (Baitushan) Volcano. Maximum concentration of volcanic glass is observed in lagoon, relict lake deposits, in burial soils from dune sections and in surface soil of Late Pleistocene terraces. Three peaks of volcanic glass content are noted in sediments of 300-400, about 1,000 and 2,200±90 yrB. P.. Volcanic glass from Late Pleistocene terrace deposits, formed during Late Wurm Glacial period, is correlated with volcanic ash layer AT, corresponding to Aira Volcano eruption about 21 to 22 kyr B.
