説明

The Kyoto-Shiga ORT Study Group was established more than 30 years ago. It is composed of orthoptists in Kyoto and Shiga. This group has been serving as a forum for improving relevant knowledge and promoting exchanges between orthoptists within the region. In recent years, however, the group has been facing various problems. For example, because of an increase in the number of schools training orthoptists and a subsequent increase in the number of group members, it has become difficult for the group to let its members converse freely under the traditional discussion style and some of them are just sitting back as onlookers. Also, because the group now has members from a wider area, those who live far from the group's meeting places have lower participation rates. These problems, however, may be solved by choosing appropriate alternative management methods, including alteration of the discussion style.
