Biotite separated from dacite welded tuff within the Takara Volcanic Rocks near Takayama yields a K-Ar age of 0.63±0.25 m.y. The age is in good agreement with the geologically supposed age; middle Pleistocene, and is not inconsistent with the paleomagnetic data. K-Ar age determination on a whole-rock sample of the Ueno Basalt from Sakashita, the geological age of which is supposed to be Plio-Pleistocene, reveals that its age is probably not older than 1.1 m.y.
