Description

The purposes of this study are to detect the blend defects in gill sliver by using the photoelectric device and to check the blend state of the sliver delivered from gill box at real time. This paper reports on a method for detecting the blend defects in the gill sliver composed of white and black fibers. The gill slivers were illuminated uniformly by two lights and were measured by mean of 2048 bits line sensor. Thevideo signals output from the line sensor were converted to digital signals at three bright levels for detecting the blend defects.<BR>The distribution curves of the size of the blend defects were obtained for the slivers produced by gilling three and five times. The shapes of the curves of white and black colour defects weresimilar, and the number of the blend defects decreases rapidly as the size of the defect increases. The shape of the curve of the blend defects changes with the gilling number. Therefore, it is clear that the blend state ofthe gill sliver can evaluate by the shape of the curve.
