Abstract

This report deals with material design and performance evaluation of porous sintered metal to improve wear resistance and various other characteristics of a spinning ring.<BR>The static characteristics of the ring are studied for various compound ratio of MoS2 and FeMn in the sintering additive.Experimental results reveal that favarable shape and distribution of pores can be obtained if the compound ratio of FeMn is controlled at lessthan30%.As the result suitable materials for spinning rings can be obtained.It is also confirmed that good characteristics are obtainable in radial crushing strength and fluid pemiability by controlling FeMn compound ratio less than30%.
