Description

In Japan the amount of produced paper is about 31 million tons in 1997, nevertheless the ratio of recycled paper from advertisement and wrapping paper was about 30%. Recently, it becomes a necessary to separate different kinds of papers before the recycling process and also to do research for the development of the new separation processes for paper recycling. In this study, the floatability of the newspaper and the advertisement paper was investigated by the flotation and sink-float method to separate effectively each paper.<BR>It was found that the sink-float method is able to separate the newspaper and the advertisement paper. Next, the suitable quantity of dispersion required for the highest separation's efficiency at the investigated condition was ligninesulfonic acid sodium salt 25 mg/little and aluminum sulfate 10 mg/little.
