Description

Cellophane tape is widely used in the cross cut test. In order to develop the accuracy of cross cut test, some factors for the pressure sensitive adhesive tape were investigated. It was found that the conditions of taping up, the peeling rate and angle must be accordance with JIS. While the temperature and humidity specifications during testing are described in JIS, a great care is required for storage since the humidity has a strong influence on the performance of the pressure sensitive adhesives during storage as well as upon the results of apeel-off test. The fast rewinding rate from a reel of pressure sensitive adhesive tapes seems to make a rough surface. It must be noted these factors. The effects of polarity and surface roughness of adherend on the peel adhesion of cellophane tape were investigated. Mending tape was also used by way of comparison. The steel, phenolic resin, polymethylmethacrylate and polystyrene plates were used as adherend and their surfaces were roughed with sand paper. The influences of polarity and surface roughness on the peel adhesion appeared for mending tape, whereas hardly appeared for cellophane tape. As a result, it was clarified that the cellophane tape is suitable for the cross cut test.
