Abstract

Outdoor pot trials were conducted to determine the effect of selected residual herbicides registered for use on wheat in Japan on Italian ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum Lam.) control, a problematic weed in winter cereals. With pre-emergence application, trifluralin and prosulfocarb controlled ryegrass more effectively than pendimethalin. All formulation that included pendimethalin or trifluralin resulted in better ryegrass control than pendimethalin or trifluralin alone.Proslulforacb applied at 3.92 kg a.i./ha at pre-emergence or early post-emergence controlled ryegrass as effectively as trifluralin herbicides.
