Abstract

Fungi isolated from fruit bodies and decayed woods were determined as Fomitopsis palustris on the base of ITS-5.8S rDNA sequences, which were collected at the bridge in Kagoshima pref., the frame of the bathtub in Miyagi pref. and the pole in Gifu pref. in Japan. Microscopical characteristics of fruit bodies produced in glass jars were identical with those of F. palustris. Optimal growth temperatures of these isolates were 35°C. Decay rates of Sugi and Buna sapwood by these isolates and FFPRI 0507 were eqeally fast, which is designated as a test fungi on JIS Z 2101 and K 1571.
