Description
A 35-year-old female with erythema on her cheeks proved to be sensitive to a topical corticosteroid ointment, hydrocortisone-butyrate (Locoid®), which had initially been used for the treatment of her skin lesions. In addition, she was also sensitive for hydrocortison-butyrate-propionate and budesonide but not for any other topical corticosteroids or Torii’s standard patch test series. Other cases with hydrocortison sensitivity previously reported in Japanese literatures were also reviewed and found to have a relatively frequent cross sensitivity between hydrocortison-butyrate, hydrocortison-butyrate-propionate and budesonide.
