Description

We reported three cases of mycosis fungoides manifesting as purpura pigmentosa chronica. The eruptions in these patients were characterized by irregularly shaped, diffusely pigmented or purpuric plaques, which shared morphological appearance with purpura pigmentosa chronica. Histologically, lymphocytes infiltrated not only around small vessels but also in the upper dermis massively in a band-like fashion. Epidermotropism of lymphocytes and extravasation of erythrocytes were noted. It seems that a long-term follow-up is needed in patients with purpura pigmentosa chronica, when they have similarities with mycosis fungoides.
