Abstract
Three patients with generalized psoriasis, a patient with chronic eczematous dermatitis and a patient with exfoliative dermatitis were treated with 0.1% triamcinolone acetonide ointment (Ledercort oint.), 20g/day, (20mg. triamcinolone acetonide) under ODT. The serum 11-OHCS and urinary 17-OHCS levels were estimated every day. Eosinophil counts and blood glucose levels were also determined. The serum 11-OHCS and urinary 17-OHCS levels were slightly lowered or unchanged in all cases during observation. The phenomenon of inhibition of adrenocortical function was slight and the levels of serum 11-OHCS were limited in normal range. A decreasing tendency of eosinophil counts and increasing of blood glucose levels were observed in one case respectively. ODT with 0.1% triamcinolone acetonide ointment showed clinical usefulness. It seems reasonable to conclude from the above resusts that the patient with chronic skin disease, e. g. psoriasis, would be better treated with this ointment in external application.
