Abstract

A 68-year-old female presented with multiple annular erythematous plaques distributed generally on her body of one and a half years duration. We considered it to be a generalized granuloma annulare, but the erythema was resistant to the standard modalities of treatment. We started rifampin, ofloxacin, and minocycline combination therapy that had been used to treat patients with paucibacillary leprosy . This therapy was effective but we stopped the therapy because of the side effect of thrombocytopenia. After normalization of platelet count, we resumed treatment with minocycline. The multiple annular erythematous plaques became discolored and flattened within 1 month. The combination therapy and minocycline monotherapy were thought to be an effective treatment for generalized granuloma annulare.
