説明

The possibility of predicting flowing phenomena of grains in processing by distinct element method was discussed. As a basic gravity flow, the discharging phenomenon from the slit of flat bottom container was chosen. White rice and glass beads were used as experimental materials. By comparing between experimental and simulation results on macroscopic flowing states, we investigated on parameters to express the flowing characteristics of grains by the simulation. Simulations by considering the rolling friction of circular elements and by using pair elements were effective methods to the quantitative agreement between simulation and experimental results in the change of free surface position with time. The orientation of particles which was characteristic in the flow of white rice could be expressed by the simulation by using ellipse elements.
