Description
A very inflated bivalve with heavy test collected from Kanesu-no-Se Bank, near the mouth of Suruga Bay, by the submersible Shinkai 2000 is recognized to be an undescribed species of the family Lucinidae. In connection with the description of new taxon, the Recent Japanese species of the genus Lucinoma are critically reviewed, as this new taxon was once reported to belong to the genus Lucinoma which is usually a member of chemosynthetic community.
