Description

The geometrical isomers of both Allethrin (dl-2-ally1-4-hydroxy-3-methyl-2- cyclopentene-1-one-dl-cis·trans-chrysanthemate) and Phthalthrin [N-(3, 4, 5, 6-tetrahydrophthalimide) methyl-dl-cis·trans-chrysan-themate] were completely separated on a gas chromatograph equipped with a hydrogen flame ionization detector and the results obtained by analysing synthetic mixtures of the isomers indicated that trans-cis ratios of Allethrin and Phthalthrin could be determined exactly by their peak area ratios. The trans-cis ratio of technical Allethrin and that of technical Phthalthrin were both about 80:20. The optimum gaschromatographic conditions were as follows. Column: glass, 2m in length and 3mm in inner diameter; column package: 6080mesh, acid-washed and silane-treated Chromosorb W coated with 2% Silicone DC QF-1; column temperature: Allethrin 135°C and Pathalthrin 170°C; injection temperature: 250°C and carrier: helium, 60ml/min.
