説明

A modification of chromatography was presented in which mercuric, cupric, bismuth and cadmium-ions were separated into four concentric precipitate zones of their sulfides on a filter paper disk by use of thioacetamide. Sheets of Toyo filter-paper No.5B having a diameter of 9cm were treated with a 2% solution of thioacetamide. A drop of nitric acid solution of the sample was spotted on the center of the paper and it was developed immediately.<BR>The best result was obtained by the development with 1.5M ammonium acetate containing a trace amount of acetic acid. Although this was not entirely satisfactory for a complete isolation of four of the above ions, it was quite useful for a qualitative test. The precipitate zones were, from the center, Hg2+, Cu2+, Bi3+, and Cd2+, and the distribution was assumed to be in order of the stability of their sulfides. The temperature of developing solution was 1520°C.
