Description

A 69-year-old woman was admitted to our hospital for the closer examination of an abnormal shadow on chest computed tomography (CT). The patient underwent right mastectomy at the age of 42 for breast cancer and lower lobectomy of the left lung at the age of 45 for breast cancer metastasis. Chest CT showed a nodular shadow measuring 2 cm in diameter in the right upper lobe of the lung at the age of 67. Though she had received hormone-based therapy for two years, the tumor grew gradually. She underwent surgery in our hospital in May 2007. A tumor measuring 3.7 cm in diameter existed in the right upper lobe of the lung. Right upper lobectomy of the lung and lymph node dissection was performed. The final histopathologic diagnosis of the tumor was metastasis from breast cancer because immunohistochemical stains were positive for estrogen receptor and negative for TTF-1. She showed an uneventful postoperative course. She is now doing well without any evidence of recurrence or metastasis 3 months after surgery.
