Abstract

The patient was a 56-year-old woman, who was pointed out as having an abnormal shadow in the left apical region on routine chest X-ray examination. She felt the left forearm palsy, so she was admitted to hospital for careful examination. The mass was diagnosed as a neurogenic tumor originating from the thoracic inlet by chest computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. The tumor was dissected from the left subclavian artery and resected through a cervical approach using a thoracoscope for a pleural view. The tumor was a schwannoma which had arisen from the inferior brachial plexus. Once the ulnar nerve palsy was worsening after the operation, but the symptom was gradually improved by rehabilitation. The patient was discharged 12 days after the operation.
