Description

The Richards distribution function was fitted to the diameter distribution data of permanent plots. The effectiveness was assessed by the test of goodness of fit. The annual change of parameter m was approximately constant between 1 and 2.3 in stands after 20 years. Parameter k decreased as the stand grew older. The relationship between mean diameter and parameter k in each stand was represented by simple regression, but in whole stands by a curve. The relationship between mean diameter and parameter m was not identified. Variance of the RICHARDS distribution function is shown as the function of parameters m and k. Variance computed from the data was correlated to parameter k, but not to parameter m.
