Abstract
The driving force of the methane decomposition reaction with the creation of carbon forms (graphite, diamond, fullerite C60) at high pressure within a reservoir open for hydrogen is determined. The dependence of the driving force on pressure in reaction volume and on pressure in hydrogen volume is considered. The results of the methane decomposition in open and closed reservoir are substantially different. It is concluded that the use of a system open for hydrogen suggests new possibilities for obtaining different carbon forms.
