抄録

Viewing the current situation from the perspective of developing a stable energy supply and diversification of energy sources, the introduction of biomass utilization for energy will be extremely important in Japan, a country which is resource-poor. Furthermore, biomass is also a highly effective countermeasure against global warming due to its carbon-neutral properties. This article touches on political responses to biomass energy, the current state of efforts to implement biomass and related issues, as well as the concept of bio-fuels for transportation, which has currently been receiving a significant amount of public attention.
