Bacillus属3菌種 (B. subtilis, B. cereusおよびB. stearotherrnophilus) の芽胞に対する3%, 2%グルタラール製剤および0.55%フタラール製剤の殺芽胞効果を検討した. その結果, グルタラール製剤はフタラール製剤に比べ殺芽胞効果が優れていた. また, グルタラール製剤およびフタラール製剤の平均D値 (接種芽胞数が1/10に減少するまでの時間) はB. subtilis芽胞に対しそれぞれ5.03分および78.55分, B. cereus芽胞で2.31分および10.98分, B. stearotherrnophilus芽胞で11.52分および29.54分を示し, グルタラール製剤はフタラール製剤より短時間殺菌効果が優れていた. また, 調製実用液について, 室温で14日間保存し, 経日的にD値の変化を検討したが, その変化はほとんど認められなかった.
