Abstract

In this study, we investigated job satisfaction (JS), life satisfaction (LS), and relationships between these from a recent QWL approach combining work and non work as a study of Human Resources Management (HRM) of care workers. Until now this study had hardly been considered. The purpose is to obtain basic information for programs of personnel in geriatric care facilities. Questionnaires were sent to those in geriatric care facilities and were distributed to a total of 701 (86 male, 612 female, 3 unknown). Average points scored on a 5 point continuum were used for degree of JS and LS. The differences in estimates from JS and LS between male and female and among ages were examined by one-way analysis of variance. Additionally, relationships between JS and LS were examined by Pearson's product moment correlation coefficient for each sex and age category. The results were as follows : 1) As for JS, many respondents showed tendencies to have dissatisfaction with work compensation, and especially to have dissatisfaction with foremen through all sex and age categories. 2) As for LS, they showed tendencies to have satisfaction with all facets through all sex and age categories. 3) As for relationships between JS and LS, significant positive correlation called "spill over " were partly seen in some facets, especially in "work time and shift", "overall job", "health", "leisure", and "overall life", but the facets were different by sex and age.
